Shop Tour

My shop is about 600 sq. ft., in a space that is a large two-car garage, with one side left open to park one car.  Here are pictures starting from the door to the house on the north wall, and rotating counterclockwise through the space.  Some photos are a little out of date and will be updated soon.

Center of Shop The view of the center of the shop.
The assembly table in the middle is 4'x4' and contains four cubbies that store a combination of mobile cabinets and tools on wheels.

The view of the west wall.
The shop cabinets hang on a french cleat above the miter saw and off-cut bin, which also is designed to collect much of the sawdust from the miter saw.  The mortiser is on a rolling cabinet that be moved out for use when needed.

Two views looking south from the wall between the garage and the house.
There is about 18' feet of clearance to the front of the saw blade, 6' from the back of the blade to the garage door.  For really long workpieces, I can just open the garage door and extend as far as needed into the driveway.  There are two floor-to-ceiling metal storage racks on either side of the garage door where I store hand tools, hand-held power tools, and a variety of other home DIY stuff.

With all tools stored, there is space to park one car in that half of the garage.

This is the entrance from the garage into the house.  Note that the tv is located where I cannot look at it while cutting on the table saw... wouldn't want to look away from the spinning blade just to see that game-winning touchdown.  The table in front of the bench gets stored on the back patio during the summer.

Oh, by the way, the picture on the wall was painted by my mother... don't even think of laughing at it.  I will straighten it some day, though.

Thanks for visiting.
